Iglesias

Iglesias is a town of 27 thousand inhabitants, located south-west of Sardinia, about 8 km from the coast.

Its ancient history, which dates back to prehistoric times, is testified by numerous archaeological finds and its traditions are remembered in several celebrations, including the evocative rites of the Holy Week and the medieval historical parade.For the mineral riches of its subsoil it was much sought after since the Phoenician times.
Today there are dozens of abandoned mines, some of which can still be visited today (Grotta Santa Barbara, Porto Flavia and many others).
